The Lake County Illinois health department is reporting a quadruple jump in flu cases between January and February. The flu usually peaks toward the end of winter. This season has been especially bad because of a change in the virus, which decreased the flu vaccine's protection. The Health Department is encouraging residents to prevent contracting or spreading the flu bug to others.
