Lake Co. flu cases quadruple
The flu usually peaks toward the end of winter.
This season has been especially bad because of a change in the virus, which decreased the flu vaccine's protection.
The Health Department is encouraging residents to prevent contracting or spreading the flu bug to others.
Stay home when you are sick with cough, fever, sore throat or other serious symptoms.
Get lots of rest, drink plenty of liquids and avoid alcohol and tobacco.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Clean your hands often.
Avoid close contact with vulnerable people, such as elderly people, pregnant women, infants and people with compromised immunity.
