Sox Home Opener

The gates at U.S. Cellular Field open at 1 p.m. The pregame ceremonies begin at 2:30 p.m.

John G. Peters, president of Northern Illinois University, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Prior to the game, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon will perform a unique precision drill exhibition. This highly disciplined platoon exemplifies the professionalism associated with the United States Marine Corps. The Marines execute a series of calculated drill movements and precise handling of their hand-polished, 10 and one-half pound, M-1 Garand rifles with fixed bayonets. The routine concludes with a unique rifle inspection sequence demonstrating elaborate rifle spins and tosses.

The National Anthem will be performed by the Grammy nominated country music sensation, Emerson Drive. The anthem will be accompanied by a United States flag unfurling in center field. All fans attending Opening Day will receive White Sox car flags, presented by U.S. Cellular. All fans who attend any of the Opening Series games will receive a magnetic schedule, presented by Pepsi.
