The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 is among American history's most celebrated disasters. This tour travels the fire's route with historian Albert Walavich to uncover the myths and facts. It begins at the former site of Mrs. O'Leary's homestead, today's Chicago Fire Academy, and continues to the Historic Water Tower landmark, the only public building to survive the fire. It ends at the Chicago History Museum with a brief slide presentation and the museum's permanent Great Chicago Fire exhibit.
