It all began with 15,000 hopefuls, a dream and the biggest stage in America. A 36 year old mother of 5 and housewife from Detroit emerged from the tremendous pressure and overwhelming odds to win Oprah Winfrey's first and only Pop Star Challenge singing contest.Now a few years later, LaShell has traveled the country performing with singing greats Earth, Wind and Fire, Babyface, Hootie & The Blowfish, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, Anita Baker, KEM, Mary Mary, Donnie McKlurklin. She has performing in places that she had only dreamed about in years past like Harare, Zimbabwe and London, England. LaShell Now she returns to Chicago with her highly anticipated sophomore CD entitled "Dreams Are Possible".
LaShell is truly living her dream evolving from a mother and housewife to a recording artist, label owner and also now a "Great Woman of Style" model for national woman store Ashley Stewart. Recently LaShell began performing the national anthem at campaign events for Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama.
