A fire on the Chicago River may have been lit by a blow torch used by construction workers, according to a newspaper report.A series of pilings next to the State Street Bridge House caught fire around 6 a.m. Friday.

The pilings are used to tie barges along the river and they protect bridges in case boats go out of control.

The State Street Bridge was closed while crews fought the flames. The closures tied up traffic. No one was hurt.
