Grandfather, 72, dies after hit-and-run

CHICAGO Marcos Valdez-Rocha was crossing the street in front of his home in the 5700 block of South California when he was struck at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police say 33-year-old Veronica Rangel's 2002 Ford pick-up truck hit him. They also say when Valdez-Rocha landed on the hood of her car, she kept going.

Rangel was arrested about 90 minutes after the crash and was issued five tickets.

Marcos Valdez-Rocha had nine children and many grandchildren.
