A former suburban gymnastics coach is out of state prison. But Michael Cardamone still sits in jail on Monday night. Cardamone is being held at the DuPage County Jail after being released today from the Taylorville Correctional Center near Springfield.

His release comes after the state supreme court upheld an appeals court decision overturning his convictions for sexually assaulting seven female gymnasts at their family gym in Aurora. The court determined Cardamone didn't get a fair trail and his family agrees.

"The supreme court and the appellate court have definitely showed us that the system can work and we have faith that it will work in DuPage County and Michael will be home soon because he has always and will continue to fight for his innocence," said Alysha Millard, sister.

DuPage County states attorney Joe Birkett says Cardamone will be re-tried and he'll be kept in jail with no bail on a conviction of intimidating a witness.
