Melanoma on the rise among older men

January 8, 2009 According to a report in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, melanoma rates are still going up, especially among older white males.

Researchers doubt the increase is due to better screening. And they say they're seeing higher numbers among all socioeconomic groups.

A report in the British Journal of Cancer says skin cancer patients have a higher chance of developing other forms of the disease.

Experts found people treated for melanoma were more than twice as likely to develop other unrelated cancers.
