It's that time of year for romance

February 14, 2009 While flowers and heart shaped boxes of chocolate are the favorite choice of many, people across the U.S. find different ways to celebrate.

In Columbia and Sumter, S.C., you can trade a gun for a rose for your sweetie. It's called the "Guns for Roses" program. Anyone turning in a gun will also get a gift card to Best Buy.

In Charleston, S.C., more than 1,000 veterans and their sweethearts will be treated to a concert.

Even the Iraqis are getting into the holiday of love. In Baghdad, some shops are filled with Valentine's Day-related gifts.

But in Venezuela, President Hugo Chavez wants to put the celebration on hold until after a referendum tomorrow that would allow public officials to run for re-election as may times as they want. In exchange, Chavez promises a "week of love," assuming he wins the vote.
