Restauranteurs flock to Chicago for convention

Mayor Daley cut a ribbon Saturday to open the National Restaurant Association's annual convention in McCormick Place.More than 70,000 representatives from every state, and 102 countries, were attending the three-day show that features new products and services and offers suggestions on how restaurants can survive and even prosper during the nation's economic downturn.

The mayor stressed that the convention is very important to Chicago hotels, cabdrivers, restaurants, and other parts of the city's economy.
