Reform commission pushes for action

May 20, 2009 (CHICAGO) There are less than two weeks to go in the legislative session.

The commission chairman is former federal prosecutor Patrick Collins.

During a news conference on Wednesday, commission members ran a videotape showing how Illinois has been made fun of on late night TV.

Collins says ethics laws backed by the commission should be fairly considered by both political parties.

"In the coming days we will know if we get meaningful reform or not. And we will also know who are those who stood out for reform and who are those who stood silent or opposed it," said Patrick Collins, Illinois Reform Commission chair.

The commission's proposals include a $2400 limit on anyone's campaign contribution's in an election.
