Pair charged with Moline burglaries

September 10, 2009 (CHICAGO) A mother and son are behind bars, charged in a string of burglaries in Moline and East Moline.

Police say they scanned obituaries and preyed on people when they were burying their husbands or wives.

Jackie Parmentier, one of the victims, lost her husband of 52 years in May.

Her grief turned to shock when she returned from his funeral and discovered her house had been broken into, and all her jewelry was taken.

The same thing has happened to several others widows and widowers since early this year.

Sixty-six-year-old Judith Squires and her 40-year-old son Glen Squires are charged with burglary and criminal damage to property.
