The Chicago City Council approved special buffer zones around health care facilities. It's aimed at anti-abortion protestors.The ordinance establishes a 50 foot bubble around a health care facility. Protesters are prohibited from coming within eight feet of a patient who is within that 50 foot bubble.
Forty-third Ward Alderwoman Vi Daley sponsored the ordinance. She says woman seeking any kind of service at a clinic in her ward are being harassed.
Planned Parenthood of Illinois praised the vote.
Abortion foes are protesting. They say the law is a violation of their right of free speech.
