Workers to vote on hotel strike

October 26, 2009 (CHICAGO) On Monday, workers picketed the Hilton and the Blackstone, two local hotels where contracts are under negotiation.

Tuesday's strike vote involves five other hotels and a union authorization doesn't necessarily mean a strike is imminent.

There are a total of 30 hotels where contracts expired in August.

The workers also marched in honor of the Congress Hotel strike which passed its 6th anniversary in June and is now the longest hotel strike in U.S. history.
