Police charge suspect with assault, robbery

Chicago police arrested a convicted child sex offender on charges of armed robbery and sexual assault on Monday night.Albert Robinson, 37, of the 11100-block of South Vernon Avenue, allegedly robbed a mother and her daughter at gunpoint and sexually assaulted one of the victims in the 11000-block of South State Street.

The victims identified the suspect en route to the hospital. As police attempted to approach Robinson, he allegedly took off on foot. Robinson was taken into custody close by with the help of other officers.

Property belonging to the victims was recovered from Robinson at the scene, according to police.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in bond court on November 25.
