Police: Speeding caused fatal Will Co. crash

November 25, 2009 (JOLIET, Ill.) One man was killed and another injured in the crash on Interstate 55 near Joliet.

Illinois State Police say the driver of one car rear-ended another car as they were traveling in the northbound lanes near Jefferson Street. The driver who was rear-ended, 80-year-old George Stratton, was killed.

The other driver, 21-year old Tommy Carter, has been cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The northbound lanes of I-55 were closed for about three hours after the crash.
