Airlines waiving fees during holiday season

December 17, 2009 Industry experts say airlines and other travel companies will waive fees and give free upgrades if you ask.

Best fares.com says many U.S. airlines are waiving the advance purchase rules for holiday travel.

From December 17 through January 4 travelers can buy airline tickets for domestic travel through the holidays without paying extra.

Travel companies and Web sites may be willing to bend a few rules and waive fees to try retain customers in these tough economic times. But you have to ask.
