Chocolate can help liver patients

Apr. 15, 2010

Spanish researchers reported that eating dark chocolate can slow the rise in abdominal blood presure after meals.

Antioxidants found in cocoa are thought to be the reason why chocolate helps blood pressure.

The chemicals seem to help smooth muscle cells in the blood vessels relax and widen.

The research presented at the European Association for the Study of the Liver follows other studies suggesting dark chocolate also promotes heart health.
