Cohen told ABC7 Chicago's Ben Bradley last Friday that his political career is not over. There has been speculation that he'll run for governor as an independent, but Cohen says he does not want to run and win, if he can't do what's needed to bring jobs to Illinois.
"I don't want to be just another politician. I want to make sure I'm effective and genuinely going to help people. That's what I was going to do as lieutenant governor, and if I could do it as governor, then I'll decide that's what I'll do," said Cohen.
Scott Lee Cohen won the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor but dropped out after questions were raised about his past.
