The mayor is looking to outsource hiring for several departments, including Streets and Sanitation, transportation, aviation, water and general services.
"Why should we have a thousand people apply for one position, and then we have to go through all these applicants, let the private sector do it, they have better technology. I'll tell you, it's mind boggling," said the mayor.
The mayor also wants to auction off 50 additional taxi cab medallions.
Daley wants to allow commercial sponsorship of bridge houses, and says that could both raise money and be fun around holidays. One mockup shown off Thursday featured a Halloween look. The mayor liked it and says that's one of his favorite holidays.
