Negotiations held in construction strike

Construction unions and employers are back at the bargaining table in the hope of ending a strike that has stalled projects across Chicago.

Union laborers and operating engineers walked off the job two weeks ago, which shut down hundreds of job sites. The strike affects about 8,500 workers.

Both sides are trying to reach an agreement on health insurance and wages. The unions are seeking a pay increase of 15-percent over 3 years. The employers have offered an increase of just under 4-percent
