A 10-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were burned when the chemical was thrown on them from a porch on Tuesday night on the city's West Side.
The accused is an eighth grader. His mother says he thought he was pouring water but the state's attorney's office says the container was clearly marked 'poison.'
Both children are hospitalized in good condition. But the incident threw a scare into their families.
"He's burned from the front of his chest to the back of his chest to the back of his head on back. His legs got a burn," said Marzette Henderson, victim's stepfather
The accused boy is charged with aggravated and heinous battery.
