Chicago Halloween: Blago top-selling mask

With Halloween just around the corner, employees at Fantasy Costumes on North Milwaukee Avenue are working some scary hours.

The costume shop is open 24 hours a day until Halloween evening. With more than 3,000 masks in stock, customers can find just about anything they can dream up. But one mask is more popular than most.

"Well of course it's the ex-governor," said Chuck Giovenco, manager of Fantasy Costumes. He said the store has sold more than a hundred Rod Blagojevich masks at $39.00. "We have plenty left for the rest of the season."

Other options are also ripped from the headlines.

"The Chilean miners and their rescue has turned into a big costume this year," said Giovenco. "Well they're coming in and buying the miner's hat that has the light and for the ones that are a little more outrageous we have a red hot chili peppers costume."

Get it? A miner's helmet and red hot chili peppers.

Hit movies and hit TV series always turn into hit costumes. This year, for instance, Avatar is hot. Jersey Shores is hot and then there's that movie starring Johnny Depp.

Another big selling point at Fantasy Costumes- extra, extra large sexy costumes for the full-figured woman.

"We have more than fifty styles to choose from in a size one X, two X or a three X and four X," said Agnes Gula of Fantasy Costumes. "We're trying to fit into the American society, yes."
