Dreams of striking it rich triggered unprecedented Mega Millions lottery ticket sales in Illinois.

State lottery officials say last Tuesday's $380 million jackpot was the reason for the surge.

On average, more than $19,000 in tickets were sold each minute in Illinois between 6 and 7 o'clock on the night of the drawing.

Illinois was fifth in total sales for the multi-state lottery.

The two winning tickets were sold in Washington state and in Idaho.
