Super Bowl loss could trigger heart attack

February 4, 2011 (CHICAGO)

A new study in the journal Clinical Oncology finds a Super Bowl loss by your home team could trigger heart related deaths.

Here's what researchers discovered: in the two weeks after the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XIV, death rates among Los Angeles residents went up.

That was especially true for those 65 and older.

When the Los Angeles Taiders won Super Bowl XVIII, in the following two weeks, researchers say there was actually a trend of lower death rates.

So even though a home team's loss may provoke some dangerous stress, a win could promote a healthful response.
