Women honored for saving stray dogs

February 24, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The Union Pacific Railroad honored Shannon Nickerson and Reva Meadows for rescuing two stray dogs on February 9.

The pair were out with their own dogs at Howard Street Beach when they saw a brown pit bull and black and white Australian shepherd playing on ice. Once they heard the ice crack the women did not hesitate to jump in the icy water to rescue them.

The dogs, named Honey and Howard, are now up for adoption at the Bark Bark Club.
