Study: Too much time at church could lead to obesity

March 25, 2011

Researchers from Northwestern University suggest spending too much time at church could harm your health. They claim young adults who frequently attend religious activities are 50 percent more likely to become obese by the time they reach middle age as opposed to those who do not take part in any religious events.

One possible explanation may be that religious activities often center around eating traditional, high calorie comfort food.

Baptist women are at the highest risk of obesity, followed by fundamental protestants.
