15K ballots cast so far in Chicago early voting

March 31, 2011 (CHICAGO)

At last count, 15,000 ballots had been cast in early voting in Chicago.

The city will more than double the 8,000 early voting ballots cast before the aldermanic runoffs in 2007. But that was before early voting started to catch on.

Fourteen Chicago wards -- the 6th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 36th, 38th, 41st, 43rd, 45th, 46th and 50th wards-- are still up for grabs. Deadlines are as follows:

March 31: Last day for Early Voting, which is offered at 17 sites in the city from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

March 31: Absentee ballot applications due to Board of Election.

April 4: Last day to vote absentee in-person at 69 West Washington. Hours are Friday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to noon; Monday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
