Local musician seeks stolen bass

February 18, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Ted Brewer played the bass during President Clinton's first inauguration.

He says he was appraised at more than $10,000 about ten years ago.

On February 8 the instrument was inside Brewer's car parked inside a downtown parking garage.

Someone broke into the car and made off with the bass.

"It has some unique markings on it," Brewer said. "It has what's called a low-c extension on the bass. And many instruments, many basses don't have a low-c extension. That's usually required for playing orchestra work."

Brewer says he's rented an instrument that he's using in the meantime, but says it's just not the same as playing his bass.
