Doctors: Kirk making progress after stroke

February 25, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Kirk is at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

The institute's director released a statement Friday, which read in part, "Senator Kirk is fully engaged in his rehabilitation program and making improvements in walking and other activities."

The senator suffered a stroke in January and had to have surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

Doctors have indicated he should make a complete recovery mentally but might have physical limitations.
