Harry Carter and his wife Denita say they never mistreated human remains at their business.
Authorities say there was no heat and no electricity at Carter Funeral Home at 2100 E. 75th St.
On Saturday, an angry Denita Carter denied the negative allegations.
"We're not going to allow anyone to break this family, community, black business down to the gutter," she said. "We deserve respect."
Chicago police cited the funeral home with several code violations.
