NATO Summit protesters ask city for written deal

March 31, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The protesters wanted to start the march at Daley Plaza, but last Thursday, a judge sided with the city in rejecting that plan, saying it would create traffic and security problems.

Now, the group says it will agree to a proposal by the city to begin the march in Grant Park.

The activists want the march to end close enough to McCormick Place to allow them to be seen and heard by the world leaders attending the Summit.

If they do not have a written agreement by Wednesday, the group is threatening to take the matter to federal court.

The city is considering the plan.
