Changes coming to birth control labels

April 11, 2012

Federal health regulators say they are adding labeling to Yaz and other newer pills, emphasizing the drugs may be more likely to cause blood clots. That's compared to older contraceptive pills.

The FDA says the new labeling will detail recent studies suggesting the pills carry a slightly higher risk of blood clots, but that is still very rare.
