Alzheimer's Benefit

May 4, 2012 (PRESS RELEASE)

Bankers, the national life and health insurer, will kick off its annual Forget Me Not Days® fundraiser in Chicago. Hundreds of volunteers, clad in distinctive green gardening aprons, will scatter the streets of Chicago to collect donations to benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter. In exchange for the donation, volunteers will hand out packets of Forget-Me-Not seeds to take home and plant in honor of families across Chicago who are facing Alzheimer's. An estimated 5.4 million Americans are living with this irreversible disease including 210,000 people in Illinois alone. Last year, the annual street corner fundraiser brought in nearly $17,000 and more than 3,000 seed packets were handed out to donors and passersby in downtown Chicago.
