ComEd crews assist PECO out east to restore power

October 31, 2012 (CHICAGO)

"Activities are around the clock. And we prioritize the repairs based on public safety, police, fire and then we try to get the most damage, the highest numbers of customers back as soon as we can. Between the heavy winds, the rain and the flooding we've pretty much seen a myriad of damage on all areas," Tyler Anthony, ComEd, said.

Anthony says all the crews working on the East Coast volunteered to go.

Crews worked Wednesday in Newtown Square, a suburb of Philadelphia.

ComEd deployed more than 240 in-house and contractor crews, made up of more than 600 people, to the East Coast.

The crew numbers include:

80 ComEd utility crews (160 people)
48 contractor utility crews (190 people)
122 contractor vegetation management crews (250+ people)

The crews are providing assistance to ComEd's sister utilities PECO in Philadelphia, and Baltimore Gas and Electric.
