Barrington teachers' vote approves strike

Teachers in suburban Barrington are one step closer to going on strike.

The teachers union voted Wednesday to overwhelmingly approve a strike against Barrington Unit District 220.

Nearly 700 teachers have been working on a contract that expired at the end of August.

The union and school district are hung up on disagreements about salary, insurance coverage, benefits and working conditions.

However, a walk-out is not imminent, as the union would still have to go through a lengthy process before going on strike.
