November 12, 2012

Results in the journal Pediatrics how premature babies who were massaged made immune cells that might better fight infection.

In addition, babies who were massaged gained more weight daily and weighed more at the end of the study.

The findings suggest massage therapy is safe and may improve babies' overall health.

Researchers say is too soon to say that message is something doctors should prescribe to all vulnerable newborns.
