State holds holiday auction of unclaimed property

The items that are up for auction can be seen on treasurer.il.gov. Just click on the preview button to view them before auction begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 26. It runs through 10 a.m. Friday, November 30.

Bidders have to register online to participate at treasurer.il.gov.

The auction will include more than 18,900 pieces of unclaimed property that hasn't been collected in five years.

"We have a variety of interesting items to sell in this auction. This auction features a platinum ring with a one ct diamond, a Leica camera with removable lens, a signed copy of the book "The Mick" by Mickey Mantle, and antique political buttons for Roosevelt, Macarthur and Garfield. There's something that appeals to everyone," Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford said.

The state will accept Visa and MasterCard, and are required to pay a 2-percent administrative fee, and for shipping.
