Neighbors help out South Side fire victims

November 28, 2012 (CHICAGO)

ABC7's John Garcia was there Wednesday night when residents found out how much their neighbors care.

They sort through piles of clothes donated by people in the community, looking for something that fits, something to provide warmth. Most here lost everything when fire destroyed most of the 35 units in their condo building.

Aside from individuals, a number of businesses donated cash and supplies as well, including food for Wednesday night's meal.

The building's residents are a tight-knit group. The fire has forced them in all different directions to find shelter. But they enjoyed being reunited Wednesday.
