April 9, 2013 (ROMEOVILLE, Ill.)

Noak got 61-percent of the vote compared to McMichael's 39-percent.

"I am honored that the people of Romeoville have placed their trust in me and our entire Romeoville United team for another four years," Noak said in a press release. "The progress we've made the last four years has been a true team effort, and it's resulted in 4,000 new jobs, hundreds of new businesses and balanced budgets and property tax relief."

McMichael's high-profile candidacy brought a lot of attention to the race. He was endorsed by other sports figures including Mike Ditka, Marv Levy, Dan Hampton, Gary Fencik, Matt Suhey, Doug Buffone and Walter Payton's son, Jarrett Payton.

There was also controversy when McMichael was taken off of his ESPN Radio show after Noak sent a letter to the ESPN station demanding equal air-time under FCC rules.
