Many local veterans attended the Thornton Township Veterans Day Benefit Fair.
Reps from all armed forces were on hand to advise vets with issues, including health and life insurance, education benefits, home loan guarantees and federal benefits.
CEDA reps were also on hand to help veterans who need assistance with ComEd and Nicor gas payments.
The 5th annual Blue Island Veterans Day parade kicked off Saturday afternoon, as well.
