GM accused of knowing defect before recall

February 21, 2014 (DETROIT)

A Georgia attorney has filed a lawsuit claiming g-m knew about the problem since 2004 but failed to issue a recall until this month.

The recall involves 2005 through 2007 models of the Chevrolet Cobalt and the 2007 Pontiac G-5. A problem with the ignition switch can cause the engine to shut off.

When that happens, the power steering, braking assistance and air bags don't work.

GM acknowledges the defect has resulted in at least six deaths.
