Illinois asks major retailers to stop selling tobacco

Illinois is joining 27 other states in asking major retailers to stop selling tobacco products.

Walmart and Walgreens are among the companies receiving letters from attorney generals asking CEOs to no longer carry tobacco products, saying it is contradictory to carry such items that also provide health care services.

Last month, CVS said it would ban tobacco from its 7,600 stores by October 1.
