19-year-old Junior Adziwonou is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and 3 counts of aggravated assault against police officers.
In a statement, the Chicago Police Deprtment says officers were responding to a call about a person with a gun in the 7700 Block of S. Luella.
Officers say they saw Adziwonou with a handgun and ordered him to drop the weapon. The statement claims Adziwonou refused and fled on foot subsequently pointing his gun at the pursuing officers, who responded by firing their service weapons at Adziwonou.
Adziwonou was not hit but was taken into custody.
