Metra train in Aurora halted after report of suspicious package

April 12, 2014 (AURORA, Ill.)

About 2:15 p.m., BNSF Line Train no. 1307 was stopped at the Route 59 station by police who were investigating a suspicious package on or near a freight train passing through the area, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.

The train, scheduled to arrive in Aurora at 2 p.m., was still stopped at 2:45 p.m., and it's unclear when it will continue moving, Reile said.

Reile said the BNSF police and the DuPage County Sheriff's office are investigating.

The sheriff's office declined to comment, and BNSF police could not be reached.
