Fallen Chicago officers honored

CHICAGO This is the first Honored Star ceremony for superintendent Jody Weis. He was joined by Mayor Daley to officially retire and enshrine the stars of five officers who died on active duty between 1946 and 1978.

"These are our heroes and their legacies to be remembered for generations to come," said Weis. "Remember them, remember their stories and continue to honor them for their service to the cause of justice and peace."

Mayor Daley said it's never too late to honor Chicago police officers and Wednesday's ceremony will help to keep their memory alive.

Their badges are now on display in the Honored Star case at police headquarters.
