Teens turn deaf ear to mp3 player risks

A new study in the Journal of Pediatrics found teenagers are ignoring the warnings to turn down the music on their iPods.

Most teens are aware of the dangers but believe they have a low personal vulnerability to hearing loss. Parents are being urged to better monitor how loud their children are playing music.

Warning signs are ringing in the ears and sounds being muffled.

Experts recommend 70 percent as the maximum volume level when playing music with earphones.
