Homeowner charged following fatal shooting

RIPON, Wis.

Fifty-two-year-old Michael Leber appeared in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Tuesday and was released on a $10,000 signature bond.

Leber is charged with possessing a short-barreled shotgun, which carries a maximum six years in prison upon conviction.

Detectives say a sawed-off shotgun was among the weapons found at the home while they were investigating the shooting death of 18-year-old Jason Perry of Omro last February. Nineteen-year-old Evan Tolsma of Brandon says he didn't know an assault rifle was loaded when he aimed the gun at Perry and pulled the trigger. The two were with Leber's son at the time of the shooting.
