Twin teachers charged with identity theft

Twin sisters who worked as teachers at a southwest suburban preschool have been arrested for allegedly stealing the Social Security numbers of students' parents to open credit card accounts.

Luzonica Tirado and Monica Tirado, both of the 25000 block of Blue Bell Lane in Plainfield, were arrested over the weekend and charged with identity theft, a Class 3 felonly, according to a release from Plainfield police.

The twin sisters, teachers at the Goddard School for Early Childhood Development at 24829 W. 135th St. in Plainfield, allegedly stole the Social Security information of at least seven clients of the school and used them to open their own accounts, the release said.

Police are working with the victims and looking for others.

The Tirados were being held in the Will County Detention Facility on $30,000 bond each, the release said. Court information was not immediately available.
