Report: FCC negotiating with wireless companies about cancellation fees

The Associated Press is reporting that the Federal Communications Commission is quietly negotiating with wireless providers to change their contract cancellation policies.

Under the proposal, cell phone providers would give customers 30 days after they sign a contract or up to 10 days after they receive their first bill to cancel their service without penalty.

The FCC's proposal would also cap cancellation fees.
